The ‘Twenty8Twelve‘ Spring/Summer 2012 collection, entitled ‘All the Boys are Called Patrick’, is inspired by the 1957 movie of the same name, and captures the free-spirited attitude and energy of the film’s female characters.
The collection is split into three lines, the first of which (also first to hit stores) takes us on a journey to 1970’s Africa, with a colour palette full of stone hues, greens, rust, amber and sunflower yellow, as well as tribal prints aplenty. Luxurious fabrics, including hammered silk, gloss silk and crepe de chine, are used to display zebra, duped hand print and cave painting inspired prints. The tailoring has a relaxed and laid back feel with a utility edge, taking influence form the Yves Saint Laurent Safari Suits of the ’70s – high waisted trousers and cropped fitted jackets.
The second delivery of the Summer 2012 collection uses the Brigitte Bardot film ‘And God Created Woman’ as the starting point, with emphasis on Riviera chic and 1950’s feminine hourglass silhouette. The line is given a nautical touch with hues of cobalt, navy and off-white, which are clashed with abstract and retro floral prints. Details are kept feminine, with waterfall ripple fabrics, twisted fabrics and accentuated box pleats.
The third and final line of the collection, which will be in stores for High Summer, has an easy summer feel with a beachy vibe running through it. A care-free spirit is represented by the colour palette of soft corals, navy, sky blue and crisp white, with sun-bleached yellows pop against charcoals and greys. The third line features blue marl sweat shirting, true blue denim and soft chambray.
The Spring/Summer 2012 collection will be the last one for sisters, Savannah and Sienna Miller at the helm of Twenty8Twelve – the duo announced in January 2012 that they would be stepping down from the label they founded in 2007. In a statement to WWD, the sisters said: ‘We’ve had a brilliant six years at Twenty8Twelve and are now looking forward to new pastures. We wish the brand the best of luck for the future.’
The label will continue on under the name ‘Twenty8Twelve London’ rather that Twenty8Twelve by S.Miller as it was previously known. Starting afresh with the Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 that showed at London Fashion Week in February 2012, with a collection by Vanessa James and Elsa Elphick, two members of the original design team.
So without further ado, we present the Spring/Summer 2012 collection from Twenty8Twelve…Enjoy!
