Fashion for the Rock Chick Rebel Within
Gothic Lace, Gold Embroidery and Luxurious Textures from Julien Macdonald
“It’s the sort of thing I would have done six years ago at Givenchy, it’s much more couture than ready-to-wear – a collection full of love and passion and energy” – Julien Macdonald.
For Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 ‘Julien Macdonald’ presents a collection full of gorgeous dresses, which harks back to his days at haute couture fashion house, Givenchy – delicate looking dresses of lace and beaded chiffon were lightly dusted with antler motifs. Light lace paneling and gold embroidery tumbled down sweeping silk and chiffon skirts in and intricate fashion, signalling a painstaking production process. Julien said of the stunning dresses “They’re real fantasy gowns but for a rock star girl, they’re not pretty and timeless, they’re modern – they’re Oscar gowns but they’re accessible for the young women, they have a bit of edge,”.
Inspired by the Scottish highlands, the muse of Macdonald’s collection was a girl who has escaped from her boring and stuffy country existence, running away to indulge the inner hardcore rock chick within – Angry at the way her parents brought her up, its time for her to live the life that she wants to live. These feelings are translated into her aggressive day wear – goat-hair parkas, shredded wool dresses, savage fox and biker jackets. Stand out pieces of the collection include, a grey chunky knit mini-dress worn over a leather biker jacket; a Gothic lace bodice dress with pleated maxi-skirt; a long-tine fox fur waistcoat; and a stunning off-white floor length gown with intricate gold embroidery.
So without further ado we present the Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 collection from Julien Macdonald…Enjoy!
