Issa London is a womenswear fashion label, founded in 2001 by Brazilian-born designer Daniella Helayel after being unable to find clothing she wanted to wear following her relocation to London. From humble beginnings making a few pieces for herself and her friends, Daniella’s label has grown into one of the world’s finest fashion labels, with prestigious stockists throughout the world, including the likes of the UK’s Harvery Nichols, Paris’ Bon Marche and New York’s Saks Fifth Avenue.
Issa London is known for its Brazilian inspired collections, with their vibrant prints and bold colour choices and this reputation continues with the brand’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection. With the seasonal line Daniella transports us back to her Rio de Janeiro roots, with a fun vibrant collection over-flowing with carnivale colours, tropical prints and flirty fabrics. Issa London has channeled the carnival spirit with a series of samba-inspired , fringed dresses in a range of popping colours; created the perfect Le Blon beach wear with innocent embroidered white cotton and broderie anglais summer dresses; and the party girls can party all night long in a variety of gold brocade and dramatic black lace on nude dresses that capture the rich affluence of Rio.
But that’s not all, Rio’s juxtaposition of nature and architecture is represented in bold prints featuring the Jardim Botanico with natural foliage on black, as well as clear blue sees and the iconic Christ the Redeemer monument being translated onto elegant kaftans and long lean jumpsuits. The fun-loving, yet stylish girl from Ipanema can spend lazy afternoons by the sea in youthful topical fruit inspired prints, before slipping into her chic eveningwear with unique motifs from the traditional agogo instrument. Daniella has captured the magnetic energy and flamboyance of the Rio carnival in long languid couture kaftans embellished with dancing samba girls, light-catching crystals and feathers in an array of refreshing sorbet hues.
So without further ado, we present the Spring/Summer 2012 collection from Issa London…Enjoy!
