Hentsch Man Co-Founder Alexia Hentsch. Hentsch Man is a designer menswear label founded in 2008 by childhood friends Alexia Hentsch and Max Von Hurter. The idea for the brand came from the friends’ search for the perfect white shirt – difficult to find yet a key staple piece of any man’s wardrobe. So instead of searching for that elusive perfect white shirt from fashion retailers, the pair decided to create one of their own. When the duo felt they finally had the design right they placed a small order. Their perfect white shirt was an instant success and the Hentsch Man brand was born. Staying true to the core brand values of simplicity and function, the label expanded the shirt collection and a full menswear collection soon followed, adding trousers, shorts, outerwear and accessories to the product range. All Hentsch Man garments are manufactured in Europe to ensure reliability and the finest quality. Additionally, all fabrics and raw materials come from the UK, Italy, Spain and Portugal.

As well as a stand alone store on London’s Newburgh Street (parallel to the famous Carnaby Street), the brand is stocked in many boutiques throughout the globe, including London’s Wolf and Badger, Zurich’s Townhouse, New York and LA’s Open Ceremony and Seoul’s Platform. A full list of stockists can be found on the official Hentsch Man website.

The Hentsch Man Aesthetic“We want our Hentsch Men to look chic, but not like they’ve fallen out of a catalogue.” Hentsch Man Website While Max is responsible for the figures of Hentsch Man, Alexia is thecreative driving force behind the brand, utilising her studies from the Rhode Island School of Design. Born in Brazil’s San Paulo and growing up in Geneva, Switzerland, Alexia’s design aesthetic is strongly influenced by a fusion of her cultural backgrounds. The design aim of the brand is to create classic wardrobe basics that have a subtle flattering fit and are free of fanciful and unnecessary details.
Each Hentsch Man collection is compact and concise, offering fewer items than most brands to avoid bombarding the customer with too much choice. The brand is for young men with a refined aesthetic – they know what they want, but don’t necessarily have the time or the patience to scour the earth to furnish their wardrobe. Hentsch Man is a label with all the necessary quality basics – from a classic white shirt, to well-tailored trousers and the occasional quirky accessory, all with Alexia’s distinctive Mediterranean twist. Little Extras From Hentsch ManIn addition to the menswear collection, Henstch Man also offers their customers special pieces from their global travels. They source speciality local items for their patrons, which have included Mediterranean espadrilles, classic panama hats, original desert boots, Venetian velvet slippers and Indian plimsolls. A ‘little extra’ recently offered by the brand is a 1950′s inspired style of sunglasses, known as the ‘bobby’. The sunglasses are handmade in Italy and come in grey, red, black, and tortoise colourways – with the inside of all the specs lined in the signature Hentsch Man pink hue.
