Flowing silhouettes teamed with rock and roll hardware from the Felder twins
A favourite of the fashion press and critics alike, Felder Felder is a London-based fashion label, founded by the gorgeous German-born twins Anette and Daniela Felder in 2006. Since inception the brand has become well known for combining soft feminine layers with rock and roll hardware and tough leathers – the womenswear label has continued with their reputation with their Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
The starting point of the seasonal line was German Choreographer Pina Bausch – the design duo were inspired by all the movement that Pina had in her pieces and the way she used dresses to highlight her performances. The narrative of the Spring/Summer 2012 collection follows one of Pina’s dancers who is lost in New York, she meets up with some downtown girls, which results in a mingling of their wardrobes to create and effortlessly cool look.
The collection features semi-sheer maxi dresses and skirts, floating skater dresses, metallic leather jackets and A-line mini skirts, fine knit dresses, bodycon shift dresses, an elegantlty tailored pair of trousers, some heavily embellished bikinis, and of course the Felder Felder trademark biker jackets. The silhouettes were slightly softened from previous seasons, giving more of effortless feel, with accessories, such as leather harnesses, cuffs and chokers adding the rock and roll edge to the floaty shapes.
In a new direction for the brand, there was an introduction of a lot more colour, with the visually striking peach, aqua and mint complementing the classic Felder Felder colour palette of black, white and grey. When it came to prints, the twins stuck to their signature hardware aesthetic, transforming their trademark spikes into a graphic floral motif, an on-trend tie-dye print also features within the seasonal offering. The collection is finished off with plenty of typical Felder Felder hardware detailing and shoes created in collaboration with footwear designer Kat Maconie.
So without further ado, we present the Spring/Summer 2012 collection from Felder Felder…Enjoy!
